Use keyboard shortcuts to control the InterviewStorm desktop app without the mouse.

The desktop app for Windows and macOS has keyboard shortcuts. They let you use the app without clicking on it. The web app does not have them.

On Windows, use Ctrl. On a Mac, use Cmd.

Default shortcuts

  • Ctrl/Cmd + B: “Hide/Show”. Puts the app window away, or brings it back.
  • Ctrl/Cmd + L: start or stop listening.
  • Ctrl/Cmd + Enter: “Assist”. Answer right now.
  • Ctrl/Cmd + G: “New Question”. Clear the earlier context and start fresh.
  • Ctrl/Cmd + H: take a screenshot (a picture of your screen) of a question.
  • Ctrl/Cmd + D: remove the newest screenshot.
  • Ctrl/Cmd + K: jump to the text box, so you can type a question.
  • Ctrl/Cmd + I: mouse pass-through. Your clicks go through the app window to the app behind it. Press again to turn it off.
  • Ctrl/Cmd + Arrow keys: move the app window.
  • Ctrl/Cmd + Shift + Up or Down: scroll the answers.

Change a shortcut

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Click “Keyboard Shortcuts”.
  3. Find the shortcut you want to change.
  4. Set the new key combination and follow the steps on the screen.

Pick keys that your meeting app does not already use.

A few tips

  • If you get the “Still there?” message, pressing any shortcut counts as “Continue”. See “Trial ended” and “Still there?” messages.
  • If you cannot find the window, press Ctrl/Cmd + B to bring it back.
  • If clicks seem to go nowhere, mouse pass-through may be on. Press Ctrl/Cmd + I.
  • Practice the shortcuts in a test session before a real interview.
