Let the app hear the interviewer
Set up audio so InterviewStorm can hear the interviewer in the web app, desktop app, or phone app.
Help Center / During an interview
Set up audio so InterviewStorm can hear the interviewer in the web app, desktop app, or phone app.
InterviewStorm needs to hear the interviewer to find the questions. It can use two sound sources:
- Microphone: your own voice and sounds in the room.
- Device audio: the sound coming out of your computer, like the interviewer’s voice in Zoom, Google Meet, or Microsoft Teams.
The app mixes both. If you only want the interviewer, turn your microphone off in the app.
Web app (Chrome or Edge)
The browser cannot remember this choice. Do these steps at the start of every interview.
- Start a session and press Play.
- The browser asks what to share. Choose your screen or the tab with the call.
- Turn on “Share with system audio”.
- Click “Share”.
If you click “Stop sharing” in Chrome, the app stops hearing the call. Start again to fix it.
Web app in Safari or Firefox
These browsers usually give only the microphone. The app hears the interviewer through your speakers. So the app warns “Don’t use headphones”. For better sound, use Chrome, Edge, or the desktop app.
Desktop app on Windows
Device audio starts by itself. You do not need to share anything.
Desktop app on macOS
- You need macOS 13 or later.
- Allow the Screen Recording permission when asked. You can also turn it on in System Settings.
- Restart the app after you allow it.
Phone app
Phones use the microphone only. Do not use headphones. Take the call on another device, like your laptop, so the phone can hear it.
Check the “Access” badge
An “Access” badge appears when a sound source needs attention. For example: no microphone permission, the microphone is muted, or device audio is off. Click it and fix what it shows.
If the last sound source stops, listening pauses. It starts again when the source comes back.
